On today’s episode of Into the Murphyverse, we’re diving into the enormous, convoluted, and at times unbelievable fiasco that is Ryan Murphy’s production of Funny Girl. This story has everything: heroes, villains, life imitating art, and of course Jane Lynch. But most importantly, Lea Michele is #NotMyFannyBrice [ we luv u beanie :') ]
If you’ve been living under a rock and not following this drama like it’s your full time job, don’t worry. We’ll catch you up on all of the lore. But be ready- there’s a lot.

E06: Sue Slayvester & Antiheroes in the Murphyverse
Sunday May 29, 2022
Sunday May 29, 2022
What makes an antihero? And why are there so many in the Murphyverse? Today we're dissecting why antiheroes are central to so many Murphyverse shows and why Sue Sylvester--ahem, Slayvester--is the best one. You love to hate her and you love to love her. She's an icon, she's a legend, and she is the moment. And that's how Sue "C's" it.
Plus, we're discussing some breaking news in the Murphyverse. If it has happened in the past 12 months, it's breaking news to us. And for the record, we #StandWithBeanie. Don't miss this ep!

Ryan Murphy has been quoted as saying “I made gay sidekicks the leads.” But there’s a bit more to be said about this. We want to look at the ebb and flow of queerness and LGBTQ+ representation in the Murphyverse. We want to ask questions like: Are Ryan Murphy’s queer characters too male, too cis, and too white? Do we see enough intersectionality in the Murphyverse? And finally, is Ryan Murphy a lesbophobe? Tune in to find out!
PS This episode may contain some Impeachment: American Crime Story spoilers, so proceed with caution!

E03: Beanie, Baby!
Thursday Aug 19, 2021
Thursday Aug 19, 2021
We’ve seen quite a few Ryan Murphy productions come out recently, so we'd just want to take some time to talk about them and where these new shows and series fit into the Murphyverse. We’re calling this episode Beanie, Baby! as more than one of these projects feature America's sweetheart, Beanie Feldstein. We’re talking about the new American Crime Story series Impeachment, coming Sept. 7 (we’ll do some speculating about that) as well as the news that Funny Girl is returning to Broadway with none other than Lea Michele--oh, strike that-- BEANIE FELDSTEIN as its Barbara Streisand reincarnate. And finally we’ll talk a bit about our thoughts on American Horror Stories, the spin-off anthology series rife with AHS references and nepotism babies. Don't miss it!
And please give us a follow or a review wherever you listen!

E02: Job Security in the Murphyverse
Thursday Jul 15, 2021
Thursday Jul 15, 2021
On this episode of Into the Murphyverse, we're talking job security. We’ve noticed Ryan Murphy tends to work with the same people over and over and over again. Be it creators, directors, producers, cast, crew--there are a lot of the same names. Ahem. Sarah Paulson. What’s behind these years-long partnerships? And who are these people we’re seeing time and time again?
We’ll be talking about all of that. And if you’d be so kind as to give us a like or a rating wherever you listen to podcasts, that would be great!

E01: The Glee Disaster
Thursday Jun 24, 2021
Thursday Jun 24, 2021
On our inaugural episode of Into the Murphyverse, we start at the beginning. Some might say the beginning would be Nip/Tuck. But we’re 21 and 25 years old, so for us, the beginning is 2009. The beginning is Glee.
We’re calling this episode the Glee Disaster. Apologies to all the hardcore gleeks out there, but we think we can all agree that that show has seen its fair share of disasters. But don't worry, we round out with a bit of discussion about Glee’s more redeeming qualities. Looking at you, Sue Sylvester. Tune in!
